Very insightful review. But I could not see any pictures. I tried
- Firefox on Linux and Windows
- Opera on Linux and Windows
- Konqueror on Linux
- Epiphany on Linux
- Internet Explorer on Windows
and none of them would show the pictures.

Also, rightclicking and view-ing did not produce the pictures.

What is the cause of this?

" ok to include Mono with Gnome and it’s proprietary MS code"

Such FUD in one small sentence fragment.

Your pictures seem to not be there as well.

I think that goes for Kde in general, not just Mint Kde. I agree that the Gnome desktop is far easier to navigate and use, although a staunch Kde user will tell you different.
Personally my main work computers (laptop/desktop) just have X and Fluxbox. Fast and configured to my liking. No need for candy, just Conky and the Slit/Toolbar and personalised menus.
Everything stays out of the way until I need it. But each to their own.

The other thing that made me want to try Mint Kde was to see what the hell they could do with Kubuntu. Kubuntu is, always has been and probably always will be one of the worst ever Kde implementations I have ever had the misfortune to use. The Mint devs (luckily) proved that Ubuntu + Kde can work.

I have been a long time user of Linux mint and I recently tried the KDE release of month 7. I have never really liked KDE. Too much clutter for my taste. Plus, the gnmoe implementation in mint is so user friendly that KDE comes no where close to the ease of use. Just too much useless options in KDE in my opinion.
